My family first discovered the Gulf Coast in the early 1950’s, and has lived here ever since. At that time, my grandfather, William W. Abbott, Sr., was an Air Force Major OSI and initially purchased waterfront property in Fort Walton Beach to raise his family there after retiring.
In 1970 my grandfather became a Real Estate broker, beginning his career selling the first condominiums in the area at El Matador on Okaloosa Island. This was one of the first residential condominium properties built in Northwest Florida. Soon the name Abbott became synonymous with Real Estate along the Gulf Coast as my father, William W. Abbott, Jr., and uncle, Stephen J. Abbott, joined the family business and founded Abbott Realty Services in 1977. With personalized customer service and an unsurpassed work ethic, they built a company employing more than 1,000 people, thus becoming the largest employer in Destin since the mid 1980's.
I was raised in the family business and enjoyed my childhood on the Gulf Coast. After playing baseball in Tallahassee and graduating from Florida State University with a Business Management degree, I pursued a career in yacht sales, as life on the water has always been a passion of mine. The yacht sale industry helped hone my sales skills, so the transition into Real Estate sales in 2004 was a natural one.
I am the third generation of Abbott Realtors in this area, and although times have changed the founding principles that guide me are tried and true - customer service, knowledge, hard work and dedication. I found these principles also practiced at Scenic Sotheby's International Realty whose market presence as the top luxury Real Estate brokerage on the Gulf Coast led my business there in 2010. I partnered with Blake Morar in 2013, and am currently co-owner and managing broker of Scenic Sotheby's International Realty with Blake.
After growing up in Ft. Walton Beach and Destin in the 1950’s and 1960’s, I attended Husson College in Bangor, Maine, receiving a B.S. degree in Business Administration. I served in the military, and began a career in the group insurance business in Boston, and later, co-managed the New York office of Union Mutual Life Insurance Company, (UNUM).
In 1974, at the urging of my father, I decided to return to Florida to join both my father and brother in the real estate business, and co-founded and served as President and Chairman of the Abbott Realty Services, Inc., and Abbott Resorts.
With our commitment to integrity, excellence, attention to detail, and unsurpassed customer service, our sales and management companies grew to employ more than 1,000 people, making it the largest employer in Destin, as well as the biggest vacation property management company in the southeast. In 1998, the company was sold to ResortQuest, where I remained a consultant and served as a board member. ResortQuest is now owned by Wyndham Vacation Resorts, which is the largest vacation resort company in the world.
By joining Scenic Sotheby’s International Realty, I will continue his “Clients First” philosophy, proving that while much has changed in the real estate market since 1976, top customer service isn’t one of them.
I have lived along the Emerald Coast since 1989 when I moved here with my family as a kid. Prior to the move we took several vacations to the area, so when my step-father was presented with a job opportunity here, the decision to make it our permanent home was an easy one.
I attended the University of Arkansas where I earned my degree in Advertising and Public Relations. After graduation, I decided to return to the place I loved so much and began working in the real estate auction industry. I developed experience in everything from working as an office manger to a marketing director during this time, and finally as Vice President of Operations.
The sales side of the auction business helped me develop an excellent base of selling skills that allowed me to springboard into traditional real estate sales.
As a Buyer Specialist with The Chris Abbott Group, I work exclusively with buyers from all over the world to help them realize their aspirations to own on the Emerald Coast, where my family and I enjoy taking advantage of all the unique recreational activities the area has to offer.

I began my real estate career in 2008 when I teamed up with Chris Abbott at Tops'l Beach and Racquet Resort. My experience in the title industry and Bachelors of Science in Finance and Real Estate from Florida State University was a tremendous help in adjusting to a career in real estate. I am willing to go the distance to achieve excellence and success in today's rapidly changing real estate market. In my free time, I enjoy spending time at the beach, fishing and enjoying all this area has to offer.
