Tucked away in a quiet section of 30A is the three-part community of Watersound. Comprised of WaterSound North, WaterSound West Beach and its flagship community of WaterSound Beach, the 1,400 acre neighborhood is known for its distinct architecture influenced by Northeastern coastal fishing villages such as Cape Cod, Nantucket and Martha’s Vineyard. Cedar shakes and shingles adorn walls and roofs whose weathered hues compliment the stark white sand beaches of the Emerald Coast. Shell-encrusted stone, porthole windows and widow’s walks give nod to the maritime history of those towns that inspired WaterSound.
WaterSound is located approximately 36 miles east of Destin and 12 miles west of Panama City Beach in Northwest Florida. WaterSound Beach and West Beach are found on the south side of 30A while WaterSound North can be found on the north side of Highway 98 near Rosemary Beach. Bruno’s Pizza, a classic 30A dining establishment now calls WaterSound home. The striking gate house greets guests at the entrance with several pool areas and a private beach club to discover within WaterSound. The most recognizable feature, perhaps, is WaterSound’s iconic winding boardwalks and pedestrian bridges that link the various neighborhoods. Owners and guests can also bask in the sunshine and salt air at numerous parks, such as Wind Garden Park, Yacht Pond and Puttering Park, a mini golf course on site. Trails are ready for exploring on foot or by bicycle as nature takes center stage and turquoise water glistens softly.
WaterSound consists of single family homes and home sites, as well as condo units. Though typically smaller in size, the homes and home sites found in WaterSound West Beach and North do offer more affordable options.
